Admission Outcomes Can Need Daunting Choices
This has been an amazing week! The truly amazing College Admissions Scandal of 2019 broke yesterday — the period that is annual of decisions — and rocks on . a historic college confidential forum thread, now approaching 3,000 (!) posts, has analyzed every aspect of the ‘pay to relax and play’ fiasco, from both a parent’s and pupil’s perspective.
Needless to say the news were having an industry with all of this, too day. In reality, it is unusual that one can select a news site, even now, without seeing some form of story for this scandal. Students are suing colleges, moms and dads are suing universities, colleges are rescinding admissions, etc. It’s a higher education three-ring circus.
Plus, the timing couldn’t become more perfect, or awful, according to which part you are on. A few weeks, the Ivy League spring decisions should come out, along with those of other alleged ‘elite’ schools. These ‘elites’ are in the scandal’s bullseye. Thus, one possible metaphor for next week’s pending decisions may be that of a rocket regarding the launch pad with its machines pre-ignited, prepared for the shackles holding it back to launch and permit liftoff.
The liftoff that is metaphorical function as the filing of lawsuits from elite applicants whom are denied. I’m certain that colleges throughout the land, both elite and non-elite (whatever those expressions suggest, if anything), are steeled for the blowback from refused applica (mehr …)
